I am writing this with a sore heart and boiling feelings after Bafana Bafana lost 3-0 against Uruguay in the World Cup SA (WC). The whole SA excitingly blew the Vuvuzelas in the streets on the day of opening match when Tshabala scored a spectacular opening goal of the WC against the mighty Mexico for a 1-1 draw. I saw people from churches to pubs drink and celebrate in the Spirit of SA. Then ofcourse Uruguay did what they did… I was one of the people that left discouraged JUST after the second goal .
Few weeks ago, I saw South Africans come in their numbers, young and Old from all races and backgrounds to support the WC and Bafana. The Stadiums were colorful when we won friendly preparation games against Columbia and Denmark.
How can Israel be the chosen nation loved by God but still He leads them into the wilderness and though sometimes they win over other nations, God still allow other nations to hurt, kill and enslave them? This doesn’t make sense, does it? Our Hero, Jesus came and saved us from sin/death but still He left us here with Satan, pain and sin. Why don’t you get the point? The point is from the beginning, He created man, blessed him to fill the earth, and for that to happen, God’s best/superior idea was to use a woman… whaattt??? Wait a minute, men and women are very different and no one has ever understood a woman (*wink*) …. but still God decided that only when men and women stay together in unity, we will be able to fill the earth (success, prosperity).
Guys, we have been created to walk through tough times but still be prosperous because we are in unity, just like God (the father, Son, the Holy Spirit).
I now understanding why we have the world cup in SA : it was never about winning the cup but about discovering the potential POWER of prosperity. Satan was happy that we missed this point. That power is the South African SPIRIT! The SPIRIT OF UNITY, that makes us overlook our differences and our past to stand together as for a cause.

The same spirit that was operating when we won the Rugby WC in 1996 and 2008. The games are just methods to help us see the BIG POINT, WE HAVE SOMETHING THAT WE CAN TEACH THE WORLD= the only commandment God gave us, SPIRIT OF UNITY IN LOVE FOR ANOTHER, SPIRIT OF UBUNTU that these people are supposed to come and enjoy (learn or wish). We are already honored to be hosts. Genesis 11:6 ESV And the LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them
1 John 4:4 NLT But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
My favorite heroes all died at the end. Jesus, Steve Biko, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandi, the Spartan 300, and general Maximus the gladiator. ALL THESE PEOPLE HAD THE SPIRIT THAT CAN NEVER BE DESTROYED. THE SPIRIT THAT I WISH WE CAN STILL STAND PROUD ABOUT EVEN IF WE DO NOT WIN THE GAMES.
Guys, we have the right Spirit (seed) that can take us far if we work on it (I dont believe in overnight Success, God doesnt usually work like that). It takes years of investment and preparations to win the world cup. We have forgotten that we did not qualify for the WC and even the African cup, we are number 83, Uruguay (16) , Mexico (17), France (9). France lost 2 – 0 against Mexico and doesn’t have a goal or a win. Out of 193 countries, we were chosen to hold the WC. We need to be more thankful instead of being anxious.
Just like South Africa’s father Mandela suffered but still believed and conquered, so is our father Christ and we are born of Him.
1 John 5:4 ESV For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the word. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.
The Gospel was introduced wrongly to us. We are taught to hate challenges and that God is here to fight the devil for us. We are much bigger than the devil and that is why God sent only one man (our brother) who was exactly like us and He took the whole kingdom of Satan alone.
Don’t you wonder why Jesus saved us from sin/death and still LEFT us here on earth with Satan, pain and sin ?

We are guaranteed that weapons will be formed against us and we shall walk through the valleys… BUT…Mark 16:18 ESV they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."
As you grow in Spirit you realize that some of this challenges are not bad (from the devil), God even send them like the eagle will take it’s young at high heights and release it to fall. In Job, God allowed Satan to kill all Job’s children, get him sick and destroy his wealth, because He knows that the power of the Spirit in him.
If there is God why is there so much evil going on? God goes through the same feelings that that we go through. He is not some man of steel sitting up there while we suffer down here. Why would He rest on the seventh day if He is not tired? (Gen.2:2). God gets disappointed (regret – Gen.6:6, 1 Sam15:11), feels pain (Eph. 4:30), cries ( John 11:35), feels like giving up (Mat.29:39) but He always wins because He has faith in pain. The same Holy Spirit lives from Christ is in us (Rom. 8:11) and we have what it takes to show the world that what makes us who we are is much bigger than how we appear in the world. What is in us is the SPIRIT!
PEOPLE MUST WONDER, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE SOUTH AFRICANS (CHRISTIANS), THEY HAVE LOST THE (EVERYTHING) WC IN THEIR HOME LAND, THEIR RAND IS DOING BAD, THEY GOT HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, HIV AIDS… WHY ARE THEY STILL REJOICING AND LOVING EACH OTHER? CHRIS HANI AND EUGENE TERREBLANCHE ARE MURDERED, AREN’T THEY SUPPOSED TO BE EATING EACH OTHER BY NOW? WHAT IS IT WITH THESE PEOPLE?WE MUST STAND TOGETHER IN FAILURE AND SUCCESS ( that’s family, support Bafana!) WE MUST FRUSTRATE SATAN INSTEAD OF ADMIRING HIM (COMPLAIN AND CRY).
The world cup is just the beginning of fruits from our Spirit. WE MUST SHOW THEM THAT OUR CIRCLE GETS BIGGER BECAUSE IT IS A RING OF UNITY (MARRIAGE) CENTERED AROUND THE SPIRIT (GOD).. IT CAN NOT BE BROKEN EVEN IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH AND NOT EVEN DEATH CAN DO US APART. AND THIS MY FRIENDS, IS THE THE HOLY SPIRIT OF SOUTH AFRICA!!
