Commonwealth offering: The illegal Substance

The Nigerian 110-meter hurdles finalist , Samuel Okon, degraded his nation further after testing positive for methylhexanamine on Friday following his beautiful teammate, Damola Osayemi, who was stripped of her 100m gold medal for the same illegal substance. Methylhexanamine, is a stimulant that enhance performance and it was banned in sports early this year by World Anti-Doping Agency. What stimulated me was that it was used in medicine in the 70’s and recently in nutritional supplements and cooking oils (as Geranamine and Floradrene). My crazy mind just thought, “ would I use it in medicine or cooking oil to be a superman if it were not yet declared as illegal”

Before I commence into this offering, let me address that I don’t condone the use of any illegal substances and believe in discipline especially for the sake of our Lord’s name. Yesterday I read through 1Sam 12:22 NLT  The LORD will not abandon His people, because that would dishonor His great name. For it has pleased the LORD to make you His very own people.

The papers headlines never use “Samuel Okon” but “The Nigerian”. How do we represent “Christ” or His Kingdom?

Also note that this offering is not to judge or accuse Nigerians of any wrongdoing. Besides, they are not the only ones who were tested positive for the illegal substance, a couple of Indians including Shot-putter Saurabh Vij were tested positive before the games and on Wednesday at the games, the Indian, Rani Yadav, also tested positive for an illegal banned steroid nandrolone and she came out sixth in the women's 20-kilometer walk on Saturday….Wait a minute!…. How on earth does somebody take drugs just to walk?... And still finish sixth ???? (Never mind, let’s go to the Word …). This offering is about the illegal substance that remains legal until listed as banned.

Christians, as clean as we are, also have our own  substance that turbo-charge us and if discovered, the World Anti-Doping Agency might attempt to ban this substance:-

Heb 11:1 KJV Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I have heard that junkies see things that do not exist when they take their drugs but ours make us see things that exist but not yet seen. Hallelujah!

Where does it come from who makes it? The Chemist Himself :- Heb 12:2 KJV "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; …"

And remember it is Him, the pharmacist who must prescribe the dosage and sometimes He can tell if it's not enough:-

Mat 17:20 NLT "You don't have enough faith," Jesus told them. "I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible. "

You don’t even need a large dosage but one pill, as small as a mustard seed. Look what else it can do :

Luk 17:6 NLT The Lord answered, "If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'May you be uprooted and thrown into the sea,' and it would obey you!

This is some dangerous stuff yo! it should be banned!

If we use this mojo portion, people at work, school, streets, banks, industries, home etc., are supposed to marvel at our enhanced performances :-

Mat 8:27 GNB Everyone was amazed. "What kind of man is this?" they said. "Even the winds and the waves obey him!"

How is it delivered ? Rom 10:17 NLT So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Shhh'! do you have the Bible? Shhh, it's a recipe you can grow it at home!I am blessed that the Lord has grown a garden of tree in me and I have testimonies to share to encourage you how to dose this dope.

The Bible is also full of instructions and Hebrews 11 lists a couple of master junkies who reached high by using the substance.

Heb 11:1-40 NLT (2) Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. (3) By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God's command, … (4) It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God …. (5) It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying…. (7) It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. …. (8) It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land …. (11) It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old…. (20) It was by faith that Isaac promised blessings for the future to his sons, Jacob and Esau. (21) It was by faith that Jacob, when he was old and dying, blessed each of Joseph's sons and bowed in worship as he leaned on his staff. (22) It was by faith that Joseph, when he was about to die, said confidently that the people of Israel would leave Egypt. … (23) It was by faith that Moses' parents hid him for three months when he was born. … (24) It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter. … (27) It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king's anger…(28) It was by faith that Moses commanded the people of Israel to keep the Passover …

*Before I got born again I thought that the burning bush was one of Moses's high moments but it is clearly not. let's continue*

(29) It was by faith that the people of Israel went right through the Red Sea as though they were on dry ground. But when the Egyptians tried to follow, they were all drowned. (30) It was by faith that the people of Israel marched around Jericho for seven days, and the walls came crashing down. (31) It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey God. … (32) How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets….

Please read the whole chapter fully on your own. I’m tired of counting; the more I read the more I get high on this illegal substance!
